Health and Safety for Persons with Responsibilities for Buildings

The course aims to stipulate the health and safety responsibilities of a designated person within a building.
Impact Statement
The delegate will have gained an appreciation and knowledge of:
  • Understand that the Health and Safety at work Act 1974 provides legislation on the protection of all those who are supposed to be on a premises.
  • How to work in a safe and healthy manner and contribute to improving health and safety in the workplace
  • Understand that Risk Assessments must be used to identify hazards, and control measures put in place to reduce risk
  • Have knowledge on guidelines around temperature, ventilation, lighting, removal of waste management, floor space
  • Appreciate that good housekeeping can reduce slips and trips
  • The basic principles around Manual Handling and COSHH (chemicals stored safely)
  • Understood the importance of Fire Safety and regular fire checks, fire drills etc.
  • Able to consider the overall welfare of those on their premises

This course is designed for those who have a responsibility towards Health and Safety aspects within a building. It would be suitable for managers, supervisors or team leaders.
