Designated Safeguarding Lead Person Refresher Course
Description

Keeping Children Safe in Education and Government guidance requires refresher training every two years. 

This course will revisit the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), new initiatives, reflections and challenges of the role. It will provide staff with the opportunity to discuss difficulties/problem cases associated with their role and to explore possible solutions. It also provides an update on the most recent legislation changes i.e. Keeping Children Safe in Education - September 2021, Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2018, Sexual Violence & Sexual Harassment in Schools and Colleges Sept 2021 etc. that affect Safeguarding and Child Protection. 

Pupils will:

  • be safer and have safeguarding needs met in an appropriate and timely manner

Practitioners will:

  • understand the child protection responsibilities of the designated safeguarding lead person

Settings will:

  • be safer organisations and compliant with government/statutory guidance

This course is designed for those acting as the designated safeguarding lead/ person for child protection, or their deputies, or those who have previously attended the full day Designated Safeguarding Lead/Person initial training
