Year 4 Mathematics and Writing Moderation
This session will be an opportunity for year 4 teachers to work with colleagues from other Royal Greenwich schools and consider the end of year 4 National Curriculum expectations for writing and mathematics.
During the session, participants will:
- consider the end of year 4 National Curriculum expectations for writing and mathematics through professional dialogue
- benchmark their pupils' work
- be able to identify any gaps in pupils' attainment or curriculum provision
- share examples and good practice with colleagues
Pupils will:
- be enabled and supported to reach expectations appropriate to their ability and in line with similar pupils nationally
Practitioners will:
- benchmark their judgements with other schools against national standards
Settings will:
- be secure in their teacher assessment judgements for year 4 writing and mathematics
Year 4 teachers of all primary schools
English Subject Leader Networks (Secondary)
This meeting will support English Subject Leaders to develop and strengthen their strategic role as middle leaders in their school. It will provide up-to-date information on current research, policy and practice.
It will support Subject Leaders to explore ways of continuing to improve the quality of teaching and learning in English and provide opportunities to share effective practice.
Pupils will:
- benefit from improved teaching and learning
- have improved behaviours for learning
Subject Leaders will:
- be able to achieve outstanding or improved outcomes across their school
- be able to plan for effective and personalised interventions
Settings will:
- benefit from improved leadership, teaching, learning and assessment
Secondary and Special School Subject Leaders

Primary Music Subject Leader Network Meeting
The Royal Greenwich Music Service is inviting primary Music subject leaders to attend a series of three network meetings that will take place over the course of the academic year.
Meetings will be led by the Royal Greenwich Music Service management team with visiting guest speakers from national and local partner music organisations.
All sessions involve a practical session, where music leaders will focus on different instruments throughout the academic year.
The meetings will be a fantastic opportunity to meet colleagues from different schools and share good practice.
Attendance at the meetings will ensure subject leaders are kept up to date with national, regional and local priorities and initiatives in music.
The meetings are open to music leads and music teachers of all levels from Greenwich primary schools.
**Introduction to Makaton**
These short sessions are designed for people who are interested in finding out about Makaton and deciding whether or not to attend Makaton Level 1 Workshop training
The Taster gives you a general introduction into what Makaton is and who uses it, and it gives you the opportunity to learn some Makaton too. You'll be shown the signs and symbols for around 30 useful everyday
