Educate Against Racism (EAR) Curriculum Network
During these sessions leaders can explore curriculum intents and resources to consider how they can meet the diverse experiences of the children and families in our schools.

This network is open to all schools in Royal Borough of Greenwich, and we welcome EYFS, Primary and Secondary colleagues.

These meetings are particularly useful for colleagues with responsibility for the curriculum or for those who would like the opportunity to network with other colleagues about developing a racially equitable curriculum.

We hope by working collaboratively in this way, we will most effectively support the students of Greenwich and ensure that we are delivering the best possible curriculum and enrichment opportunities for them.

Pupils will:
  • benefit from experiencing a racially equitable curriculum in their school.
Curriculum leaders will:
  • benefit from sharing approaches and resources for racial equitable curricular.
Schools will:
  • benefit by securing racial equitable curriculum provision.

Primary Computing Subject Leader Network Meetings
We would like to invite primary Computing Subject Leaders to attend a series of 3 network meetings that will take place over the course of the academic year. The meetings will be a fantastic opportunity to meet colleagues from different schools, share good practice and discuss current research and initiatives.
The sessions will be run by Tim Lings, the Director of Digital Learning at Heronsgate Primary, as part of the work with RBG EYFS/Primary Strategy Group. Tim has a wealth of experience teaching and leading computing and has been recognised for the work he has done with digital learning at Heronsgate. He is passionate about working with Computing leads across Greenwich.
The sessions will include:
  • Opportunities for leaders to reflect on their leadership of Computing and identify areas to develop back in school
  • Collaborate and share best practice with Computing leads across Greenwich
  • A close look at progression of different strands of Computing from EYFS to YR7
  •  A deep understanding of substantive and disciplinary subject knowledge
  • Understanding what excellence looks like
  • Opportunities to connect between sessions using a digital platform
We encourage subject leaders from all Greenwich primary schools and with all levels of experience to join us. KS3 computing teachers/leads are welcome to attend.

The changing role of SEND Governance

This course will explore the specific and important role of the SEND Governor ensuring:

  • The legal requirements are in place and are known and understood by all staff and adults working in your school
  • That your school is ambitious for all our children with SEND and they are supported to reach their full potential
  • The SEND governors have the required skills and knowledge to challenge the provision in place and the use of the notional SEND budget

There will also be an opportunity for governors to understand the process of applying for an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) including the amount of evidence that is required and discussions with external agencies, this will also include the timing and procedure for the annual reviews.

Governors will:

  • have a clear understanding of their role
  • have the knowledge and expertise to hold the school to account for ensuring that the policies and processes are in place and that they are being consistently applied
  • have a good understanding of what they should monitor and challenge and how that is reported back to the full Governing Board
  • have the knowledge to inform their Governing Boards of how the money for SEND pupils is spent and its impact
  • understand the rigour and time commitment to the EHCP application process, the implications for the staff managing this process and the need to ensure that there is enough capacity for the role.

All Governors, but especially those with SEN responsibilities
