Training will include:
- Profile of strengths and weakness of a learner with Down Syndrome
- Learning about reading and numeracy interventions such as See and Learn, Word Up, Reading and Language intervention scheme, Numicon
- Being able to access STEPS resources to support reading and numeracy
- Learning about websites and apps that can provide further support
- Opportunity to share ideas with other delegates supporting children with Down Syndrome
Pupils will:
- benefit from carefully planned support tailored to meet individual needs
Staff will:
- have increased confidence to effectively plan and implement reading and numeracy interventions when supporting pupils with Down Syndrome

Dynamo Concise will provide the Level 3 course in partnership with Highfield (the awarding body). Their aim is to deliver top quality training services in Paediatric First Aid
The training consists of an online theory which participants will need to complete ahead of the day and the practical itself. The online theory will be sent in advance once you have booked on the course. Please note if you do not complete the online training ahead of the day, you will not be able to take part and will still be charged the full amount.
Please note due to limited numbers we can only allow one member of staff per setting to attend
- Aims and principles of first aid.
- Prevention of cross-infection during first aid procedures.
- Basic life support (CPR).
- Management of the unconscious casualty.
- Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded, bleeding or shocked.
- How to deal with burns, poisoning and eye injuries.
- Assessment and treatment of common major and minor illnesses, including fractures, dislocation, head injuries, epilepsy and diabetes.
- Managing asthma attacks and choking.
- Legal aspects of first aid at work – record keeping and use of equipment
PVIs and Childminders
This course will provide information about:
- the rationale for and overview of Access Arrangements
- a wide range of different types of Access Arrangements
- identifying pupil needs
- the process of applying for Access Arrangements and collating evidence
- what cognitive processing is and the demands of the secondary curriculum on pupils' cognitive processing skills
- best practice in implementing a whole school approach to Access Arrangements while keeping the child at the heart of the process
At the end of the session, you will be clear in:
- your understanding of the JCQ requirements
- when and for whom you will need to make reasonable adjustments
- how to organise pupils for Access Arrangements assessment
- knowing what evidence to collate when applying for Access Arrangements
- knowing what is needed for the JCQ inspection
