Royal Greenwich Music Service
The Royal Greenwich Music Service offers a music education service for all schools, ensuring all children and young people in Royal Greenwich have access to the highest quality, diverse and inclusive curriculum.
We offer guidance and support on curriculum music and development via a team of skilled music education professionals and opportunities to nurture and develop young musical talent through our wide range of music programmes and performance opportunities.
The Music Service is responsive and flexible, with talented music tutors who are all DBS checked and quality assured.
As the lead organisation for the Royal Greenwich Music Education Hub we work directly with a range of world-class partnerships that offer an extensive programme of musical learning working with schools, pupils, the workforce and the community.

Instrumental/Vocal Tuition
First Access
The First Access programme meets the requirement of the DfE National Plan for Music Education to provide every child with the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
This year-long programme provides weekly whole-class instrumental tuition to children in year three delivered by our skilled music tutors.
Schools buying in to the First Access programme will receive fully subsidised weekly tuition for a school band/ensemble.
Specialist Instrumental/Vocal Tuition
Regular tuition from experienced instrumental and vocal tutors offered on a variety of instruments for a minimum of two hours a week during term time for children in all years from primary through to secondary.
Schools buying in to this programme will receive a fully subsidised session with a member of our team to discuss how schools can fully recoup the costs of this service.
School Bands/Ensembles
Regular tuition from experienced instrumental and vocal tutors to create and develop a school band/ensemble for a minimum of 2 hours a week during term time for children in all years from primary through to secondary.
Professional Development
Whole School CPD
Whole school CPD sessions delivered by a qualified music education specialist on a variety of topics from 'Music Across the Curriculum' to 'Singing Confidently in the Classroom'
Curriculum Support
Whole School Primary Music Curriculum
The Music Service will provide a qualified music educator for 1 day per week to deliver whole school primary music curriculum across all school years.
This programme includes delivery of singing ensembles from both KS1 and KS2.
Schools buying in to this programme will receive a fully subsidised session with a member of the team to discuss how this can be timetabled successfully in to the school week.
Schools Music Education Plan
Support to develop a strategic school music education plan, ensuring that all children access a meaningful and progressive musical education.
A visiting qualified music education specialist can provide advice and support in many areas including, but not limited to:
- Audit of provision
- Whole school music curriculum quality assurance
- Creation of schemes of work
- Recruitment
- OFSTED 'deep dive' preparation
Instrument Loan Scheme
The Royal Greenwich Music Service offer a wide range of instruments that can be hired by schools on a yearly or termly basis.
This heavily subsidised scheme is subject to availability.
Performance Opportunities
The Royal Greenwich Music Service hosts a range of inspirational events allowing pupils to showcase their skills in public performances and gain personal confidence in performing with their peers.
Any resources provided as part of participation in any of our performances can be used all year across the whole school.
Live Music in Schools
The Royal Greenwich Music Service are excited to launch this new offer of interactive live music performances to schools.
A group of professional musicians will come to your school to perform a specialised live 'gig' and give pupils the opportunity to participate in this interactive session.

Curriculum Support

Additional extracurricular activities, for example choir, can be added to this package at a cost of £45 per week.
School Music Education Plan £400 per day or pro rata dependent on needs
